The judges state that the exhibits fully maintained the New Zealand reputation for high quality and flavour, all but an odd exhibit being fresh, full and pleasing, while the body of the butter was that of the high standard necessary to the successful deliverance of our butter on the world’s market after several months of unavoidable storage. Cheese Exhibits. Uniformity in make and flavour were the oustanding feature of the cheese exhibits with mechanical openness conspicuous by its absence. There were no strong flavours and at the time of judging no evidence of discolouration. The quality generally was good. The results were:— Championship of Nev/ ZealandWestmere and Pahiatua equal 1; Hukanui 3. Championship of Manawatu and West Coast.—Westmere (South Island). Gold Medal.—Collingwood. Rennet Company’s silver challenge cup.—Pahiatua 1, Dalefield 2, North Tiraumea 3, Kaponga 4. Murgatroyd Cup.—Pahiatua. Dickie-Salt Special.—Mangatoki 1, Lowgarth’2, Kaponga and Alton equal 3. N.Z. Shipping Company Cup.—Pembroke 1, Hukanui 2, Alton 3, Westmere 4. • Half case of white cheddar. —Westmere 1, Pahiatua 2, North Tiraumea 3, Kaiparoro 4. Cheese fully matured.
