DAVIS CUP TENNIS
SOUTH AFRICA WINS DOUBLES. AUSTRALIANS BELOW FORM. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London. June 12. In the Davis Cup match, Kirby and Farquharson (South Africa) defeated Crawford and McGrath (Australia) 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. The South Africans’ win was due to superior combination, also to the Australian pair’s lack of understanding. The Australians led 4-1 in the first set, but thereafter the South African players dominated the game and the Australians never looked like winning. The form of Crawford and McGrath was only mediocre. The South Africans stormed the net at every available opportunity and the Australians found difficulty in passing them, while any tosses were killed by the South Africans. McGrath’s attack also lacked punch.
