A Madrid resident, suspecting that a packing case sent to him by rail contained bombs, informed the police, and they carefully opened it. It was found to contain two beautiful pieces of sculpture which experts declare to be worth £50,000. There was no indication of the sender. One village in Wiltshire, Stockley, has no church, post office, school, or public-house for its population of 69, of whom more than one-thid are drawing the old-age pension.
