CONTRACT BRIDGE
FIVE MINUTES TO BID. London, June 1. Owing to nlayers’ dilatoriness in bidding—an Austrian took 15 minutes to decide—the director of the International Contract Bridge match at Grosvenor House was forced to make a new rule. If a player takes more than five minutes to bid his side will be penalized 300 points. The admonition so upset the Austrians that they lost their match against England by the record margin of 2520 points.
