FORTROSE NOTES
FLAG 500. (From Our Correspondent.) The first evening of the Flag 500 was held on Tuesday. There was a fair attendance, the funds being in aid of the Anglican Church. Successful winners were: A. McEwan sen., H. Golden and T. Thomas. The runners-up were Misses Anderson, Thomas and Mr H. Anderson.
Last season the Flag 500 was very successful and it is hoped this season will be even more so, the funds being donated to the Anglican Church and the library alternately. The weather here is still stormy and many of the roads impassable for cars, Brown’s bus coming through 2g feet of water on this side at Gorge Road whilst the bus via *Woodlands and Mataura Island did not manage.
