WAIKAKA VALLEY BRANCH.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Waikaka Valley branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held in the hall on Thursday evening. There were twelve members present and the president of the branch, Mr S. Morrison, presided. The annual report and balance-sheet submitted by the secretary showed a satisfactory state of affairs. There were 22 financial members and since the closing of the books several other subscriptions had been received. Although the subscription had been reduced last year and the branch had carried on on its credit balance, there was still an amount of £l4 in credit. Office-bearers for the ensuing term were elected as follows:—Chairman, Mr J. Howden; vice-chairmen, Messrs S. White and W. Y. Cunningham: secretary and treasurer, Mr J. S. Paterson (re-elected); committee, Messrs R. Cumming,. J. B. McPhail and T. Marshall; delegate to Gore Sub-executive, Mr J. Howden: delegate to Provincial Conference, Mr J. Howden. The subscription was fixed at 15/-, and it was agreed that, with a view to stimulating interest in the branch, a skeleton . syllabus covering six meetings should be drawn up at the next meeting. _ , In preparation for the forthcoming Provincial Conference a number of subjects suitable for remits was discussed, and eventually these were referred to a committee to draft in a suitable form and submit to the confCMembers were subsequently entertained to supper by the local branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union.
