MAY DAY TABLEAU
“SACRIFICED TO CAPITAL.” POLICE RAISE OBJECTION. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) London, May 9. In a May Day procession the Northampton independent Labour Party displayed a tableau representing a boy of 12 crucified on a huge gilt cross with the words “Sacrificed to Capital emblazoned beneath. The police intervened and threatened to stop the continuance of the procession unless the disgusting and revolting crucifixion was removed. The ban was obeyed, but the Independent Labour Party complains that the police exceeded their duty and that it was not their job to bow to a religious complex.
