Auckland, May 8, Two residents of Waitakere, on the North road, awakened early this morning by a banging on their door, found a man drenched, and covered in mud and bleeding, on the doorstep. He said: “My car went over the bank,” and then collapsed.
It was not until daylight that the car was discovered at the bottom of a gully 80ft deep. The driver had evidently missed a sharp bend and the car plunged over. He has been identified as George Brewer, a radio salesman, aged 32 years. His condition on admission to the hospital was serious, but it was reported to have improved to-day.
