CAR MISSES BEND

PLUNGE INTO GULLY DRIVER RECEIVES SERIOUS INJURIES RESIDENTS AWAKENED (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, May 8, Two residents of Waitakere, on the North road, awakened early this morning by a banging on their door, found a man drenched, and covered in mud and bleeding, on the doorstep. He said: “My car went over the bank,” and then collapsed.

It was not until daylight that the car was discovered at the bottom of a gully 80ft deep. The driver had evidently missed a sharp bend and the car plunged over. He has been identified as George Brewer, a radio salesman, aged 32 years. His condition on admission to the hospital was serious, but it was reported to have improved to-day.
