TUATAPERE NOTES
(From Our. Correspondent.) The recently-formed Waiau Football Club had two teams in the competition on Saturday. The A grade played Nightcaps, the latter securing a victory by 12 points to 6. There were a large number of spectators despite the bleak weather and the feme was interesting to watch. The ground was very wet and made heavy going. For the home team G. Porter kicked two penalty goals. The visiting team showed more combination throughout, their score being three tries and one penalty goal. Mr D. O’Leary controlled the game. At Nightcaps the B grade Waiau team were defeated by 27 to 3. The Weather. Heavy rain and cold south-westerly winds were experienced over the weekend. Creeks and rivers are very bigh and surface water is to be seen on all low-lying land. During the past month much time has been lost by all engaged in outside work. Those on the unemployment scheme have in several cases been unable to get m even their restricted hours, as most of the. work consists of channelling and ditching.
