Fortrose travelled to Otara and were able to take the field with over 10 players. Otara won by six goals to nil. During the greater part of the game Fortrose were seldom over the halfway line and the Otara goalie spent a cold afternoon, never having to hit the ball. Mrs Chisholm, goalie for Fortrose, saved her side on a number of occasions and played a sound defensive game. For Otara Gwen Blair shot four goals and E. Blair two. Mr R. A. Cox controlled the game. In brilliant sunshine, but hampered somewhat by a strong, cold wind, the finalists in the Otago ladies’ golf championship played off on Saturday morning on the Balmacewen links, Miss Oliver Kay defeating Mrs H. Dodgshun for the title for the second year in succession. The players were fairly evenly matched everywhere but on the greens, where Mrs Dodgshun succumbed to the younger player’s deadly accuracy (states the Otago Daily Times). At a number of holes Mrs Dodgshun experienced rather bad luck, as putts which would have resulted in a half stopped on the rim of the cup, and Miss Kay was given opportunities of which she made full use. The winner was playing at the top of her form throughout the match, and she fully deserved her victory of 6 up and 5 to play. Miss Kay has now won the title five times.
