WOODLANDS NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) On Wednesday evening, May 3, a most successful concert was held in the hall, the proceeds of which go to the Woodlands Presbyterian Church. A large audience was present and a fine programme of musical and vocal items was given. Mr R. L. Pettitt and his orchestra of 20 players came out from Invercargill. Mr E. Hargest presided. The following was the programme:— Orchestra; song, Mr J. Stewart; sketch, Miss Joyce Hargest and Miss Betty Montgomery; orchestra; recitation, Miss A. Sadlier; violin solo, Mr R. L. Pettitt; orchestra; sketch, Mr and Mrs E. Hargest, Miss M. Kane, and Miss C. McKerchar; song, Mr J. Stewart; recitation, Miss Ruby Bonney and Miss Marjorie Schmidt; song, school children; orchestra. Mr W. Bell and the Rey. G. Renwick moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Pettitt and all the performers which was carried by acclamation. Mr Pettitt replied.
