COLLISION WITH BUS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 6. As a result of skidding in front of one of the Hutt road buses proceeding out from town at eight o’clock this morning a light car driven by Miss I. C. Austin, of 104 Hutt road, which was proceeding into the city was wrecked. Miss Austin, the sole occupant, was taken by the ambulance to the hospital with injuries to her head and her condition is reported to be serious. The bus was undamaged. CHILD’S COLLAPSE. (Per United I’ress Association.) Blenheim, May 6. The Coroner, Mr E. J. Hill, held an inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death of Andre Moss, aged 2i years, who collapsed and died while playing with his sister. A post mortem revealed that the child had died from collapse due to an enlarged thymus gland. HOTEL LICENSEE FOUND SHOT. (Per United Press Association.) Greymouth, May 6. Alexander MacKenzie, aged 35, licensee of the hotel at Paparoa, was found fatally shot this morning. It is understood his wife left the bedroom to prepare a cup of tea and on her return she found her husband shot. CRUSHED TO DEATH. (Per United Pres: Association.) Te Kuiti, May 6. On Thursday John Percival Clementte, benchman, at the Kopaki Rimu Company’s mill, was killed instantly, he being crushed between the bench and the upright stud in the mill. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death, with no blame attachable to anyone, was returned. The deceased was aged 34 years and leaves a widow and one child. FOUND IN A DRAIN. (Per United Press Association.) Dargaville, May 6. A death took place under peculiar circumstances some time yesterday evening at Tikinui River Settlement, when a settler, Robert Deach Widdup, a single man, aged 46 years, was found dead in a drain. Only meagre details are available, but as far as can be ascertained Mr Widdup was wheeling clay into the drain and when he tipped the barrow he fell with it into the drain. FATAL REQUEST. (Per United Press Association.) Masterton, May 7. A fatality occurred on the main Carterton-Masterton road on Saturday evening, a single man, Alexander Burr, 33 years of age, of Masterton being killed when attempting to stop a passing car to get a lift into Masterton. The motor cycle on which the deceased was a pillion passenger , had broken down. The car which struck deceased was driven by Victor Hebbden, of Masterton. FOUND DROWNED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington May 6. W. J. Heenan, aged 69, well-known in sporting circles in Wellington and father of Mr J. W. Heenan, was found drowned at Lyall Bay this morning. He had been an inmate of a private hospital. SHOT IN THE MOUTH. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, May 7. A married man, named William Harvey, 65 years of age, was found by his wife lying dead in the garden at the back of his house at Anderson’s Bay this afternoon. A .303 rifle was found beside the body which bore indications that a shot had been fired into the mouth. Deceased had been unemployed for some time. SHOT BY SON. (Per United Press Association.) Gisborne, May 6. A distressing tragedy occurred in the Waimak Valley this afternoon when Alexander Lyons Warrington, a blacksmith residing at Waerengaahika, was accidentally shot by his seventeen-year-old son, dying shortly afterwards. Father and son were after pheasants, working up the river, the father being between thirty and forty yards from his son. One pheasant rt se and flew in the direction of the frfier. The son fired and his father called out that he was shot. The son rushed to the spot and found that his father had received the charge in the face and chest. He died within five minutes.
