ANZAC DAY

PARADE ARRANGEMENTS. A parade of all ex-service men will be held on Tuesday, April 25, in conjunction with the Southland Regiment, High School and Technical College cadets, Boys’ Brigade and Boy Scouts. The parade will leave the Drill Hall at 2.15 p.m. headed by the Southland Pipe Band, South African veterans, artillery, mounted rifles, infantry, Australian forces and Imperial forces. The Regimental Band will lead the Southland Regiment and the Civic Band the Boys’ Brigade and Boy Scouts. The theatre service will commence at 2.45 p.m. where the main address will be given by Mr E. J. Anderson, of the Dunedin R.S.A. Wreaths may be left at the R.S.A. office or at the theatre from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday morning. Reserved seats for the theatre service may be had at the R.S.A. office.

Brief addresses on the significance of Anzac Day will be delivered on Monday afternoon by returned soldiers at the various Invercargill schools. The speakers and the schools they will visit are as follows: Southland Technical College (Rev. J. Chisholm); Southland Boys’ High School (Mr H. Ritchie); Southland Girls’ High School (the Rev. C. H. Olds); St. George (Mr J. W. Puckey); North (Mr W. R. Mabson); South (Mr H. Crawford); Waihopai (Mr J. Pope); Waikiwi (Rev. W. J. Robertson); Dominican Convent and Marist Brothers’ School (Mr W. Drake); St. John’s Girls’ School (the Rev. J. A. Lush); Makarewa (Mr D. Leckie); West Plains (Mr J. R. Johnston).
