ANGRY TRIBESMEN
SOMALILAND TROUBLE. FRENCH COLONY’S DANGER. London, April 12. The Paris correspondent of the Daily Mail states that grave fears are held for the safety of the French, colony in Somaliland, owing to reports from Djibouti that between 7000 and 8000 angry tribesmen are massing on the southern frontier. The colony is garrisoned by only 50 Camel Corps men, and the Governor, it is stated, has asked for reinforcements to be sent immediately. Military aeroplanes are hastening from Syria, and a company of Senegalese riflemen is also en route. French Somaliland has an area of 46,300 square miles, and is on the east coast of Africa, just south of the southern entrance to the Red Sea. Its southern frontier adjoins Abyssinia.
