The Tamatea sailed for Stewart Island at 1C.35 a.m. yesterday and returned to Bluf’ in the evening. , The Canterbury Shipping Company s coaster Gale arrived from Lyttelton yesterday morning. After discharging and loading general cargo she sailed for Dunedin in the late afternoon. The Cumberland, which Is coming to New Zealand in ballast, left Dakar on December 15. She is due in New Zealand about January 23. . , , . The Gabriella, which is discharging cargo from Sydney and Newcastle at Wanganui, will leave to-day for Westport and Greymouth. ' „ , The Japanese motor ship Sydney Maru. en route from Japan, Hong Kong, and Manilla, was scheduled to reach Brisbane on Monday. She is due at Sydney on December 22, Melbourne on December 30, Wellington on January 5. and Auckland on January 7. From Auckland she will return to Japan, via Sydney and Brisbane. The Shaw, Savill liner lonic, which arrived at Wellington last Friday morning from London, brought 177 passengers and a cargo of 4600 tons, of which 2475 tons will be discharged in Wellington. The lonics mail comprised seven letter bags and 4(5 parcel receptacles. The lonic will *eave Auckland on Friday for Picton. Lyttelton and Port Chalmers to load for England. She is due at Port Chalmers about January 2. The Marine Department advises mariners that a light buoy has been established m Nelafu Harbour, in the Vavau Islands. It is painted red, and exhibits a flashing white light every three seconds, thus: Flash 0.3 sec, eclipse 2.7 sec. It replace an unlighted light-float, and is about one and a half cables 065 degrees from Multafuni (Muitafuna) Point—Lat. 18deg. 39min south, long. 174 deg west (approximate). An amendment to former notices concerning British Official Wireless messages to merchant ships is announced altering Schedule, Area 5, footnote Perth and Sydney, to read: The 1300 G.M.T. transmission is repeated on 8640 kc/s.” A further notice announces an alteration in the light-buoy marking the southern end of Narrow Bank, in the Magellan Strait, Cape Horn. The colour of the light has been altered from red to white. Other characteristics are unchanged. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. .
