To fittingly celebrate the close of another year, the pupils, parents and friends of Miss Margaret Reid were invited to a delightful party in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Saturday afternoon when a very happy time was spent by one and all in games and competitions, while a programme by the pupils themselves proved most acceptable. A feature of the function was the gaily decorated Christmas tree from which each child present received a gift at the hands of Mr Thomas Pollock, Waipounamu, who also presented the certificates won by the pupils at music throughout the year. A delectable afternoon tea was handed round and after hearty cheers for Miss Reid, the gathering dispersed.
