FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
TAXATION OF INCOME. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, December 21. A deputation representing the Friendly Societies waited on the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, yesterday respecting the taxation of income from certain sources of Friendly Societies. The Minister communicated with the Taxation Department, Wellington, and to-day received the following reply from the Commissioner: Error arose through newspaper article wrongly including Friendly Societies in organizations being taxed. Error being corrected immediately.
