Lewey, S.M., yesterday morning, when a miscellaneous list of cases was heard. . John Plunket, who was convicted oi driving a motor car at a speed dangerous to the public, was convicted ana ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. He was declared unfit to hold a driver’s license for 12 months. George David Jury, who did not appear, for riding a motor cycle without a license, was convicted and fined 10/and costs 10/-. . . Tapper’s Ltd. were charged with hiring a motor cycle to Jury without entering in a register the name of the local authority by whom the license was issued. A plea of guilty was entered. The defendants were convicted and fined £1 and costs 10/-. Sydney Hill, a farm labourer, was proceeded against by the Collector of Customs (Mr H. S. Cordery) on a charge of taking under-sized flounders. The defendant wrote in pleading guilty, but stated that he understood the minimum size was seven inches. A fine of £2, together with costs 12/- was imposed. The adjourned case in which Henry Reginald Bartlett (Mr J. C. Prain), a photographer, was charged with the theft of a bicycle was heard, the evidence of the accused and his wife being taken. The Magistrate said he could not accept Bartlett’s story that he had bought the bicycle off a man named Brash. , The accused was convicted and admitted to probation for two years. Witnesses expenses were fixed at £1 7/and an order for the return of the bicycle to its owner was made.
