A gift of £21,000 to build a library for University College, Southampton, was reported at a meeting of the University College Council. The occupants of London County Council houses last March numbered 261,000 —a greater “population” than that of Leicester. A number of tenants whose financial position has improved have voluntarily given up possession of their council houses.
