BRITAIN AND WORLD TRADE. DETERIORATION ELSEWHERE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, December 19. Sir Henry Betterton (Minister of Labour), in presenting the Supplementry Estimates of £18,000,000, which was needed mostly for payments to the unemployed, said that though the deterioration of world conditions continued, Britain, as the result of her own efforts and sacrifices, had undeniably escaped its worst effects. Britain’s exports in the last eleven months had only declined 6.9 per cent, compared with the United States 35.7, Germanw 41.1, France 37.3 and Italy 33.3. Thus, while Britain was holding her own, there was serious progressive deterioration in every other country except the dominions.
