GORE BOROUGH

MEETING OF COUNCIL. The Gore Borough* Council met on Monday evening, those present being the Mayor, Mr A. T. Newman, Councillors J. A. Baldey, W. D. Shelton, F. Young, W. K. Hamilton, J. Matthews, W. Gee, A. T. Pettigrew, A. McLachlan, G. C. Hamilton and F. Wallis. Correspondence. H. McQuillan applied for a rebate in connection with the erection of a drain in Herbert street, the sewer being on the far side of the street. —Granted. A. J. Duncan applied for permission R. the Boys’ Brigade Old Boys Band (Dunedin) to play a programme of music in the Gore Gardens on January 11 and to take up a collection.— Granted. The secretary of the Gore R.S.A. forwarded a letter from the N.Z. Association in regard to outside organizations selling poppies and asked if the council would see that no other organizations were allowed to sell poppies at Gore. —Granted.

The borough gardiner applied for assistance in clearing up the shrubberies in block 6.—lt was decided to empower the gardiner to employ the necessary labour.

W. D. Shelton wrote applying for a crossing to his property in Albany street. —Granted.
