At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association it was agreed that the Intermediate and Junior Championships be held at Invercargill on January 26, 27 and 28, the Senior Championships at Napier on February 18, 20 and 22. The council declined to agree to one of the championship carnivals being held at Hastings. The matter of a tour by prominent American swimmers was referred to the centres. Owing to the withdrawal of the Government grant, a charge of sixpence is -to be made in future for swimmers’ certificates to school children. Provision is to be made if possible to meet the cases of children whose parents are not in a position to pay. The annual meeting was fixed for November 30. WRESTLING DETI’ON BEATS MAMOS. Dunedin, November 3. Dean Detton (13,6) won on a foul from Harry Mamos (13.8) at the Town Hall to-night before a small crowd. In the fourth round, Detton, when attempting a flying tackle, hurled himself over the Greek’s head and landed in the ropes with such force that he was unable to continue and a fall was awarded to Mamos. The fifth, round was not long in progress when Mamos was cautioned by the referee for using the strangle hold. He persisted in these tactics and the referee (Mr W.
