Sir,—The Presbytery of Southland are “agin” the Government for waylaying the “Misguided Protestants” by encouraging them away hiking What about the poor devils who are not Presbyterians ? What have the churches done during the last 20 years to make the church more attractive? Have the churches fallen into line with the Sidey half hour scheme ? Did not the Hon T K. Sidey fight for more daylight that the people may enjoy a little more recreation. . ? Why do the churches still hold on to the early hour of 6.30 instead of 7 or 7.30 giving motorists a chance of attending worship. . . . ? If we desire to get up an attractive entertainment or run a business successfully is the parson the individual likely to be consulted?
