MYSTERY TRAIN v. CHURCHES.
To the Editor. Sir,—The Presbytery of Southland are “agin” the Government for waylaying the “Misguided Protestants” by encouraging them away hiking What about the poor devils who are not Presbyterians ? What have the churches done during the last 20 years to make the church more attractive? Have the churches fallen into line with the Sidey half hour scheme ? Did not the Hon T K. Sidey fight for more daylight that the people may enjoy a little more recreation. . ? Why do the churches still hold on to the early hour of 6.30 instead of 7 or 7.30 giving motorists a chance of attending worship. . . . ? If we desire to get up an attractive entertainment or run a business successfully is the parson the individual likely to be consulted? The whole problem is in a nutshell, viz:— Make the church more attractive? —I am etc. THOMAS ANDREWS. South Invercargill, November 3, 1932.
