RABBIT BOARD
RATING PROPOSALS. A meeting of the New River Hundred Rabbit Board was held in the Waianiwa Hall on Monday evening. Twenty ratepayers forwarded a petition asking for free poison to lay on their property. It was . decided to procure half a ton of poison in 301 b tins, 2cwt to be delivered to each trustee and distributed by him to ratepayers requiring it. Fifty-two applications were received for positions of rabbiters, but no appointments have as yet been made. A general rate of twopence an acre was levied on all rateable property within the district for the period of October 1, 1932, to March 31, 1933, and is payable in one sum on December 1, 1932. At a meeting of the Lochiel Rabbit Board on Tuesday evening it was decidled to take a poll of the ratepayers on Wednesday, November 30, on the proposal to alter the system of rating from the rateable value of the ratepayer’s land to the acreage of land occupied by the ratepayer.
