WEATHER AT GORE

MONTH OF OCTOBER. SMALL RAINFALL. Weather conditions in the Eastern District during the month ,of October were particularly mild and dry, the total rainfall for the month being 1.68 inches. Apart from one or two late frosts the weather was ideal for growth and for farm work generally, and lambing percentages throughout the district are reported to have been unusually high. Throughout the whole month there was not a really cold day and the weather formed a striking contrast to that generally experienced at this period of the year. It was the first occasion for several years that no snow has fallen in October. The hours of sunshine recorded during the month fell just short of those for the previous month, the total being 175.8 hours. The detailed figures as supplied by Mr A. T. Newman, official recorder to the Government, are as follows: —

Highest maximum temperature 75deg. Lowest minimum temperature 31deg. Total rainfall for month 1.68 inches Total sunshine 175.8 hours.
