THEFT OF MONEY
CLERK FOUND GUILTY. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, November 2. The jury in the Supreme Court today found Ernest John McDonald, aged 34, a clerk, guilty on two counts of stealing £l3O 1/9J, moneys belonging to the Wayside Club, while honorary secretary. The jury recommended that owing to the loose fashion in the way the club had been conducted that the utmost leniency be shown. The management committee was culpably negligent in handling the finances of the club. The Chief Justice said he would give every possible effect to the recommendation. Prisoner was remanded till Friday for sentence. The club was run on voluntary contributions, providing food and amenities for the unemployed.
