OUTBOARD MOTORING

INVERCARGILL CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT, The following annual report of thfc Invercargill Outboard Motor Club will be presented at the annual meeting this evening:— Your executive wishes to express its gratification at the success of the 193132 season. Several regattas were held at the club’s Avenal headquarters, each fixture proving successful, while a feature of the season was the revival of the Invercargill Regatta, which was held in March on the Oreti River at Dunn’s Road. Four speed-boat events were included on the programme, and contributed many thrills and much interest, to an enjoyable afternoon. Both Bluff and Riverton Regatta Committees again catered for speedboats, and, in each instance, were amply rewarded with good entries and spectacular racing in all outboard events. A visit was paid by several club members to the Fortrose Boating Club’s regatta, and although several unfortunate mishaps occurred, the attendance and the performances of our boats were highly gratifying to the Fortrose committee. The contest for the Tattersfield Silver Championship Cup was again very keen, and this executive has to heartily congratulate Mr Huntly Dunlop, sen., of the Tam o’ Shanter, who, with 21 points, was the 1931-32 winner of the trophy. In conclusion, the executive wishes to thank all who have helped the club through the season, making special mention of the services of the handicapper, Mr N. D. McKenzie, the starter, Mr J. Gilchrist, the secretary and treasurer, Mr E. J. Greenwood, the Press, and the lady collectors.
