RETURNED SOLDIERS
THE GORE ASSOCIATION. EXECUTIVE MEETING HELD. The fortnightly meeting of the executive of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in the club rooms on Tuesday evening. Mr E. J. Columb (president) occupied the chair, and the following members attended: Messrs J. Robertson, P. R. Stewart, J. McDonald, L. Roberts, T. Fyfe, W. D. Shelton, C. M. Wilson, A. C. Steel, F. M. Murray and G. L. Gerken (secretary). Before &e commencement of the business the president moved a vote of condolence and sympathy with the relatives of the late T. Price (South African veteran). This was carried in the usual manner by the members standing in silence for a few moments. The hospital visiting committee-re-ported on its visits to the local hospital during its tour of duty. Only one ex-soldier was undergoing treatment at the time of each visit.—The committee was thanked for its report, and Messrs Columb and Wilson were appointed a visiting committee for the next term.
The president reported on a visit of a party from the Gore R.S.A. to the Lawrence reunion. A very pleasant time had been spent.—The secretary was instructed to write to Mr F. L. McFarlane, conveying thanks for the hospitality tendered the Gore visitors.
