IMPERIAL AIRWAYS

FAST MAIL CARRIER. SPEED OF 195 MILES AN HOUR. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, October 25. At a general meeting of Imperial Airways it was stated that during the year Imperial Airways craft had flown 1,722,000 miles compared with 1,296,000 miles the previous year. The construction is nearing completion of a fast mail carrying aeroplane ordered as an experiment by the Air Ministry. The machine will have a top speed of 195 miles an hour, a cruising speed of 172 and a range of 1000 miles. The machine is a biplane with two Bristol-Pegasus engines. It will carry 1000 pounds weight of mails and have an apparatus enabling mails to be dropped or picked up in flight.
