NEW BAULK LINE RULE. LINDRUM’S OPPOSITION. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) London, October 20. Walter Lindrum’s opposition is the death-knell to the baulk line rule, says the Evening News. Newman, who was formerly enthusiastic, is now lukewarm, while Davis is indifferent. McConachy and Smith are strongly favourable to it, but the forthcoming Gold Cup tournament will be played under ordinary rules with a stipulation that after 75 successive cannons a losing hazard must be played.
