Owing-to the fact that the smaller rivers are at present running low, the fishing about Wanganui has not been exceptional so far, reports the Chronicle. Some very good fish have been taken from the Rangitikei, and a few from the Mangawhero river. Fishing in the Taranaki district has been fair, and in the Wellington district not very good. The Hautapu river, about Taihape, has been yielding good sport, likewise the Karioi rivers. On the upper reaches of the Wanganui river, above Parikino, the sport has been good.
