The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Post-master-General, who visited Invercargill over the week-end, leaves for Wellington again by the express this morning.

Mr B. Mahoney left for Dunedin by yesterday’s express. Mr E. H. J. Preston was a passenger for Dunedin by the express yesterday afternoon.

Mr J. Gilkison will be a passenger for Wellington by the express this morning.

The Rev. W. W. Ewart was a passenger by yesterday’s express for Dunedin.

Among those formerly associated with St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Gore, and who attended the special jubilee services on Sunday, were Mr and Mrs John Lock, Invercargill. The Rev. Dr O’Neill and the Rev. Father Loughnan, who were attending the jubilee celebrations of St. Catherine’s Convent, returned to Holy Cross College by the express yesterday afternoon. The Rev. J. Carlisle and Messrs H. Schroeder and W. J. Ward (Invercargill) and Pastor Bryan (North Invercargill) are at present visiting Christchurch as delegates to the fiftieth conference of the Baptist Union of New Zealand.

Mr L. B. Hutton, chief engineer of the Southland Electric Power Board, is at present on a visit to Wellington. He will attend a special conference of Power Boards’ and Electrical Supply Authorities’ engineers opening in that city to-day. Mr William Hinchey leaves Invercargill by this morning’s express on his way to Wellington, where he will represent the Southland Electric Power Board at an executive meeting of the Power Boards’* and Electrical Supply Authorities’ Association opening there to-morrow.

Dr G. Craig, Comptroller of Customs, returned to the Dominion by the Canadian Challenger from Montreal on Saturday morning. He expressed appreciation of the facilities and hospitality afforded the delegates at Ottawa, says an Auckland Press Association telegram, but stated that he could make no reference to the Customs Regulations to be tabled on Thursday, He left for Wellington on Saturday night.

Failing health has compelled Mr James Young, Curator of the Christchurch Botanical Gardens for the past 25 years, to tender his resignation to the Domains Board, and at a meeting of the board last week the resignation was accepted with regret. It was decided that Mr Young remain in office until his successor - assumes control. On. the appointment of his successor, Mr Young will become sports superintendent under the board.

An old resident of Otautau, Mrs John Fisher, passed away at her residence, “Aldersyde,” yesterday morning after a long illness. The deceased lady was of a quiet and unassuming disposition, and was held in the greatest respect. She took a prominent part in the local Presbyterian Church, and was also a valued member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. During the Great War she did not spare herself, and rendered valuable service in connection with the Red Cross Society. Dunedin’s boy soprano, Master Lex Macdonald, who is at present fulfilling engagements in the north, is rapidly increasing the ranks of his admirers, according to reports which have reached Dunedin in connection with his various appearances in northern centres. At Nelson on Saturday evening approximately 1000 people were unable to gain admission to the hall in which he was singing, and on Sunday night, at another concert in the same town, three times that number of intending concert patrons were turned away from the doors. Master Macdonald will sing in Wellington on Wednesday evening, and will then travel to Auckland, where he will appear on Saturday. He will return to Dunedin on October 18.
