NEW ZEALAND STOCKS
RECOVERY EMPHASIZED. COMMENT ON BUDGET. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.20 p.m.) London, October 10. The Financial Times emphasizes the recovery of New Zealand stocks, thanks to the remedial measures adopted in the Dominion in bringing the national finances in alignment and rectifying the trade position, though finality is not yet reached, so Mr Forbes is budgeting for a deficit. The decision to allow the country a respite from further taxation in order to encourage trade must be read in conjunction with the fact that the Government is steadily bringing expenditure towards the current income. It will not be surprising to read that New Zealand will shortly take the opportunity of converting bonds Issued in 1931 costing over 6 per cent.
