Mrs Little, Christchurch, and formerly of Gore, is at present staying with her mother, Mrs Cruickshanks, Canning street. Mrs J. E. Rogers, accompanied by her daughter, Molly, leaves this morning to spend a holiday in Wellington. Mrs D. L. Poppelwell returned on Saturday from a short visit to Dunedin.

Mrs H. C. MacGibbom returned last week from Christchurch. She was accompanied by her mother, Mrs H. Hill, with whom she had been staying.

Mrs T. J. Quinn, Canning street, and her daughter, Miss Douglas Nicol, are at present spending a holiday in Nelson.

Miss Flora McArthur, Dunedin, is spending a holiday with her aunt, Mrs A. A. Mac Gibbon, Main street. Mrs Peacock, Timaru, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs H. Graham, Green street. Mr and Mrs A. M. Johnston, who have been spending a holiday with relatives here, returned north by Saturday morning’s express. Mr Johnston will shortly commence missions throughout the Marlborough and Nelson provinces. Mrs H. Body, Dunedin, and formerly of Gore, is a visitor here at present. The Rev. and Mrs J. M. Simpson, of Momington, are visitors to Gore for the St. Andrew’s Church Jubilee celebrations. Amongst those who went down to Invercargill for the Galli-Curci concert last week were Mesdames W.

The monthly meeting of the Method-

ist Ladies’ Guild was held at the residence of Mrs E. C. Smith on Friday afternoon last, when there was a good attendance of members. The afternoon took the form of an American tea, a satisfactory sum being raised. During the afternoon Miss B. Watt sang two delightful solos. It was reported that a parcel of material had been forwarded to the Maori missions. It was decided to hold a concert given by members of the guild on October 28. The afternoon closed with a vote of thanks to the hostess for her hospitality.

; Visitors to Gore for the St. Andrew’s . Church Jubilee celebrations included Mr and Mrs S. McDougall (Invercargill), Mrs McGruer (Auckland), Mrs W. McQueen (Christchurch), Mrs P. Tait (Invercargill), Mrs Wadsworth (Dunedin), Mrs Bell (Invercargill), Mrs A. Grey (Dunedin), Mrs and Mr McDonald (Invercargill). Despite the inclemency of the weather there was a good attendance of members and friends at the closing day function of the Gore Ladies’ Golf Club. Driving, approaching and putting competitions were held, after which afternoon tea was served. The annual dance of the staff of the Gore Post and Telegraph Office which was held in the Gaiety Hall last Wednesday evening, proved a most successful and enjoyable function, and the committee responsible for all the arrangements have every reason to_ feel

gratified at the result of their efforts. The hall was gaily decorated with coloured lights, streamers and clusters of balloons and excellent music was provided by Wallis’ Orchestra. Extras were played by Bain’s orchestra, and the M.C’s. were Messrs R. McKercher, J. Mitchell and R. Sherriffs. During the evening a telegram was received from Mr I. I.
