WOODEND won the Newmarket Hopeful Stakes, £970, beating Diophon and a good field over the five furlongs of the Abindgon Mile at his first appearance. At three years he won the York Londesborough Plate, £865, 1 mile, and the Warwick Badley Stakes. WOODEND is stoutly bred on lines that suggest stud success through the begetting of stayers.
