WHY
I believe in fairies. | For all around | Are signs of fairy magic. g On the ground, | Or drifting in the air. I Such soft elusive things: I The swish of tiny wings, | Drifting petal-boats | That wander there. | Soft thistle-down that float” In tassels, silky white | And in still waters I Golden ropes of light | That shimmer down. | Small pitted footsteps | Where the pixies dance, I In soil, so brown, | The stirring of a leaf | When breeze there’s none, | A wild sweet melody, ij When day is done, That whispers through the air. | All these I know, ? So I believe Fairies are there. , | —Cousin Chrissie Ross (13), 66 Stafford street, Dunedin |
