There are now 460 R.A.c. telephone boxes in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Each box also contains a fire extinguisher, first-aid out-fit, fog discs, and a map of the surrounding district. Over 300,000 telephone calls were made from these boxes during the past twelve months. The Metropolitan Police district in London will have its 600 square miles of territory divided into a few large traffic areas which will be controlled by synchronized automatic traffic lights.
