WAIANIWA SCHOOL
70th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS.
At a meeting of the Waianiwa School Jubilee Committee held on Tuesday last good progress was reported by conveners of all committees. Answers to the circular sent to ex-pupils and teachers are coining in freely with subscriptions, many supplementing these with generous donations. Some of these came from as far away as Auckland and Wellington, while a greeting was received from an ex-pupil in Tacoma, Washington, U.S.A. The gallery of enlarged photographs of ex-head teachers is almost completed, and some of these were displayed and admired by those present. These will be presented to the school at the celebrations and find a permanent place on its walls.
The school has long been famed for its carefully planned and very attractive grounds, and a donation was made to those in charge to provide a special display in February. The date of the next meeting was fixed for November 1.
