FRUIT FOR AUSTRALIA
PRESENT EMBARGO.
REMOVAL SOUGHT.
(Per United Press Association.)
Wellington, September 23. The Fruitgrowers’ Federation passed a remit that the Government should be asked to immediately take steps to have the embargo against the importation of New Zealand fruit into Australia removed, failing which steps be taken to regulate and restrict the importation of horticultural products from Australia, and, also that it be an instruction to the federation to arrange for a deputation to wait upon the Government in regard to the matter.
Another remit carried was that the importation of citrus trees from overseas should be more rigorously controlled by an increase of duty to £5 a hundred.
