Weddings
SUMMERS-HENDERSON. A wedding of much local interest was solemnized at St. John’s Presbyterian i Church, Arrowtown, on Wednesday afternoon, July 20, by the Rev. W. Humble. The contracting parties were Miss Betty Henderson, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Donald Henderson, and Mr George Summers, eldest son of Mr and Mrs George Summers, also of Arrowtown. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, and the ceremony was witnessed by a large number of friends and wellwishers. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked radiant in a charming ankle-length 1 gown of white georgette and radium lace, finished at the waist with-a diamante, buckle. She wore the usual veil and orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of spring flowers and white chrysanthemums. The bride was attended by her sister Jean, who was attired in a frock of powder blue crepe-de-chene and radium lace, with shoes and hose to tone. She carried a bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums. Mr Harvey Summers, brother of the bridegroom, attended as best man. After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the residence of the bride’s parents, where the wedding repast was partaken of, and the customary toasts were duly honoured. Later in the afternoon the happy couple left by motor for Cromwell, en route to Dunedin and Oamaru, where the honeymoon is being spent. For travelling the bride wore a brown tweed costume, with navy face-cloth coat, navy blue hat, and shoes and hose to tone. Their future home will be at Crown Terrace, Arrowtown.
