EIGHTEEN BURGLARIES
CASE CLEARED UP. FOUR MEN SENTENCED. (Per United Press Association.) Wanganui, July 29. Eighteen burglaries which occurred in Wanganui since December last were 'cleared up at the Magistrate’s Court to-day, •when four young men pleaded guilty to charges brought by the police. They were committed for sentence to the Supreme Court on August 8. The accused were Herbert Vivian Buttrey, aged 23, a labourer, Thomas Butler, aged 30, a farmer, Victor Robert Ward, aged 24, and Clarence Davey, aged 24, labourers. There were 17 charges of burglary against Buttrey, 12 against Ward, two against Butler and two against Davey. There was also one charge against Davey of receiving stolen goods. The total value of the property stolen was £143.
