VIOLENT CRIME
MURDER IN SYDNEY. FORMER AUCKLAND WOMAN. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 8 p..m.) Sydney, July 27. The body of Hilda White, aged 33, of Darlinghurst, was found in Centennial Park, close to the city, to-day, with many marks of violence on the head and neck. A subsequent examination by a Government medical officer disclosed that the victim had been subjected to brutal handling, possibly outraged, and finally strangled with a portion of her own underclothing. Miss White is an Aucklander, who came to Australia four and a-half years ago with her mother, sister and brother. She attended a picture show last night and was apparently forcibly carried off in a motor car to the park, where there were many evidences of her struggles before her death. Every detective available is investigating the case- A young male acquaintance is already being questioned.
