MATAURA NOTES

The quarterly executive committee meeting of the Mataura branch of the Plunket Society was hela on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs A. N. Mac Gibbon presiding. The report from Nurse Burnett covering her work for the term was received. < The secretary presented a statement of the financial return from the May Appeal, the result of which was considered satisfactory. The annual meeting of the Mataura Pipe Band was held in the Coronation Hall on Tuesday evening. Mr Jolm Buchanan presided. The secretary also reported having received a letter from a firm of solicitors in Gore enclosing a cheque for £2l 14/9, being part proceeds of the bequest from the estate of the late James Gillies Craig. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr John Buchanan; vicepresidents, Messrs P. Amos, John Patterson, W. T. Parker, senr., R. Hutton, T. Glover, R. Wyber, A. N. Mac Gibbon, A. Todd, senr; pipe major, Mr F. F. Hesselin; sergeant, Mr W. Richmond, corporal, Mr B. Ashby; auditor, Mr C. Horquest, executive, president, secretary, pipe major, corporal and Messrs W. T. Parker senr., T. Glover, J. A. Cameron.
In recognition of their services to the organization for a number of years it was unanimously resolved that Messrs J. A. Cameron and Thomas Glover be made life members.
