COLAC BAY NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) Despite the wet weather a largo crowd attended the mutton-birders’ welcome-home ball, held on Friday. Music was supplied by Messrs E. Shore (piano), and B. Beadle (drums and jazz effects), while extras were played by Mrs L. A. Dutton, Miss Barrett, and Messrs Davis and Gregg. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr D. Wadsworth. Mrs Barrett, Miss Barrett (2), and Mr Barrett, jun., of Temuka, are staying with-Mr and Mrs Davis. Mr C. Bruce, who has been staying with Mr and Mrs T. Cleaver, has returned to Invercargill. Mr and Mrs D. Te Au and Mrs F. Belsham visited Invercargill last week. Mr C. A. Bates, Merrivale, spent a few days with Mr and Mrs E. Bates last week. Mr and Mrs E. McCullock visited Spar Bush last week. All the local mutton-birders have arrived home now. Those who landed at Bluff came through to Colac on Wednesday evening by car and char-a-banc. Some very unsettled weather has been experienced the last few days, and a great deal of water is lying about. The football match Unemployment Camp v. Colac, which was to take place last Friday, was postponed until a further date on account of the camp team being unable to get time off for the match.
