FARMERS’ UNION

WOMEN’S DIVISION. GORE BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Gore branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Soldiers’ Club Rooms on Saturday afternoon, Mrs R. Dickie presiding over a good attendance of members. The president spoke of the bereavement suffered by two members, Mrs Orr, Balfour, who had lost her mother, and Mrs McKenzie, who had lost her grandson. Members stood in silence as a mark of sympathy. Mrs I. Stewart gave a short report on Friday’s conference at Invercargill, and spoke of the great success of the market rooms at Invercargill and Gore. Mrs Bacon spoke on the rest room, and it was agreed, as the time was not opportune to make any special effort, to continue to hold the property in hand in view of the time when financial improvement comes. For the next meeting it was decided to have a knitting afternoon. A programme for the next six months was decided upon, members making suggestions for interesting meetings.
