MISSING CHILD
BODY FOUND NEAR HOME. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) Sydney, May 31. The three-year-old daughter of the Rev. Noel Cloutt disappeared on May 10 from Belmont, near Newcastle, since when she has not been traced. It was generally believed that she was kidnapped. The child’s body was found to-day two miles from her home in an advanced state of decomposition. As recently as Thursday last the father received a letter demanding £250 for the return of his child. The letter was handed over to the police. The police assert that there were no marks of violence or foul play. It is presumed that the child was lost in the scrub and died of exposure and starvation. The letter about £250 is regarded as a heartless hoax.
