THE BEGINNING OF THE END.

To the Editor. Sir,— During the last election campaign we heard many pathetic appeals for a “stable Government,” a “strong stable Government.” Have we got it? If the delegation selected to visit the Ottawa Conference is anything to go by, then if not in intellect, we have it in point of numbers. After having cut pensions in all directions and reduced the standard of living of all who have got to work, and imposed all the taxation they dared at present, during what is known to be the greatest economic depression in the histry of New Zealand, this political army of disciples is going for a trip to Ottawa, and what for? While there is much attention given to the propaganda published from other parts of the world where the people are objecting to carry out Niemeyerism, or what is known as the Premiers* Plan, what is going to happen in New Zealand? If the recommendations of Sir Otto Niemeyer are to be put into force and the control of the monetary system in this Dominion is to be removed from parliamentary control, as a result of this visit to Ottawa, then nothing short of a revolution would ever restore any monetary system again to the people of New Zealand. If the monetary system of this country is to be taken from the people and put through a central bank linked up with other central banks, and the Bank of International Settlement?. controlled by a small group of wealthy Jews, who can dictate just how much currency shall be in circulation, then God help New Zealand! From,

the-point of view of a prosperous people , the hour will have struck, the beginning of the end.—l am, etc., NORMAN McINTYRE. , Tussock Creek, May 30, 1932. ‘ [Mr Mclntyre is still clinging to the Field theories. Australia seems to have found that those who most loudly condemned Niemeyerism were unsound prophets and over-expensive leaders.—Ed. S.T.]
