(O. W. Stone). In the cheese section he grand championship banner went to Lowgarth Dairy. The Provincial championships points- prizes resulted: Auckland Cambridge Co-op.; Taranaki—Lowgarth Co-op.; Wellington and Hawkes Bay—Pahiatua Co-op.; South Island — Barry’s Bay Co-op. The first assistants’ prize went to Pahiatua Co-op. (T. Pinfold) and the champion of champions to, the-Kiritaki Co-op. and the Pahiatua Co-op. In commenting on the butter, Mr W. Dempster, Chief Government Grader, stated the general quality of the ■ exhibits was very good and considering the time the butter had been in store the flavours had held up well. A noticeable feature was the lack of district flavours, a’ perusal of the prizelist indicating that the prizes were distributed over the Dominion, from the far north to Dunedin in the south. The body and texture of the butter were very pleasing and" showed the greatest uniformity. Managers were to be congratulated on the regular quality of their exhibits. Mr C. Stevenson, the principal cheese judge, said the majority of the higher scoring exhibits in the cheese classes were of a very creditable standard, the flavour especially being very good. Several showed the smooth type of body that is required. Many of the entries would have scored higher had the body been less harsh and dry. These gave indications that mdre salt than curd was required. With the exception of a few the finish' generally was very good, the cheese being neat and clean.
