The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s motor vessel Karamea is due at Bluff about June 22 to discharge and load for London and West Coast of the United Kingdom ports. On completion the vessel is to sail on June 24 for Tiijaru. The local agents for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise that the motor vessel Zealandic is due at Bluff on July 5 to load meat, dairy produce and general cargo for London, etc. The vessel is set down to sail on July 7 for Gisborne. Wireless advice has been received from the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s Tainui that the vessel expects to arrive at Wellington to-mor-row afternoon. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled advice that the Federal steamer Northumberland cleared Dakar on May 20. She left Port Chalmers on April 21 for London, via Cape Horn, Montevideo and Dakar. The auxiliary scow Fairbum was to go on the Patent Slip last week for overhaul and survey. She is to resume her running early this week, leaving Wellington for Westport and Karamea. The small motor-ship Opawa, at present undergoing overhaul and survey on the Patent Slip, was to come off toward the end of last week and resume running in the Wellington-Blenheim trade, relieving the Echo, which will then go on the slip for overhaul. The Marine Department advises that in connection with the operations in the Tasman Sea of the cable steamer Recorder, an unlighted cable buoy, with flag attached, has been laid in position 37deg. 30min. south lat.; 170deg. 24min. east long. The following notice to mariners has been issued by the Marine Department in connection with dredging operations in the Napier inner harbour: “Dredging operations are in progress at the entrance to the inner harbour, and anchors marked by red or black buoys have been laid to the eastward and westward of the channel line. Masters should approach the entrance on the line of the channel with caution and pass the dredger on the side from which a black ball is exhibited.” Personal Items. Mr N. M. Bonetti is now chief officer of the Poolta, relieving Mr C. H. English for orders. Mr W. A. Dawn is relieving Mr A. V. Knight as second officer of the Koranui at Sydney this week. Captain W.
