COLAC BAY NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) Owing to the completion of the Pollard road the only work the local unemployed have at present is on the Lake George outfall and the Oraka Creek. At the meeting of the local Unemployment Committee last week the secretary was instructed to apply for more work for the unemployed during the winter months. The single men’s unemployment camp is now shifted to Round Hill where they will continue working on the Round Hill-Orepuki road. Owing to the amount of rough weather lately the Tihaka level crossing is in a very rough state. The local muttonbirders are expected back at the end of this week, but if the present weather conditions continue it is very unlikely that they will be back until next week. The local company of Girl Guides are at present working very hard for the committee concert and dance which is to take place on June 3.
